Our 2017-2018 Program Accomplishments
In-School Program - TCTP's 2017-2018 In-School program had 589 Title1, elementary-age school children participate in 11 five-week sessions at 10 different schools. Our head coaches instructed a total of 99 hours. Our volunteers put in a total of 306 hours on court helping our coaches. A total of 204 new racquets were given to the children who participated in Family Nights.
UofA Campus Days - The UofA men's tennis team hosted one UofA "Campus Day." Forty-six students from one school "played" with the men's and women's teams and toured the campus.
Excel/Saturday Program - Our Saturday program consisted of two sessions, Fall and Spring, totaling 16 weeks of instruction during this program year. Instruction was 1.75 hours per week. The Fall program averaged 35 players per week with the highest attendance at 30 and the lowest at 11 children. Total registered students for Fall were 40. The Spring program averaged 21 players per week with the highest attendance at 28 and the lowest at 13 children. Total registered players were 44.
TCTP's Summer Camp Program ran four weeks from 5/29/18 to 6/21/18. There were 46 children who registered and participated, ages 5 to 17. The average daily attendance was 26. Four former students returned to work as paid coaches and worked through both sessions. Paid instructional hours totaled 140.3.
TCTP Volunteers - We could not have done it without you! You contributed almost 1200 hours towards helping the kids in our programs...Thank You!
Advanced Player Scholarships - Thanks to generous donations from our community, we were able to send 12 students to the Smith Perry Tennis Academy at Reffkin Tennis Center (for a combined total of 30 weeks of instruction). We also added scholarships to Junior Team Tennis. Through our program, 18 students were able to compete in the summer league at Tucson Racquet Club.
Fundraising/Grants - TCTP held/participated in 6 fundraising events and was awarded 3 grants and secured 5 corporate sponsors - raising close to $30,000 for the year. Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who participated!
